We offer three different types of wax for different client needs.

Classic wax for clients who have normal skin, thin to medium hair and desire large areas of waxing such as back, legs, chest, arms ,etc.

Champagne wax (hard wax) for thinner hair in sensitive areas

Hard wax is specifically designed for thick, course, curly hair. It was originally designed for Brazilian waxing. How its different: As it dried, it shrink wraps around the hair so when it is pulled, unlike strip wax, the hair does not break off, leaving the root still intact. When Strip wax is used for Brazilian waxing, it can cause superficial bruising and skin lifting in the labia area. Waxing pulls the hair out by the root. It traumatizes the root system. Eventually, with regular waxing, the hair comes in thinner, and sometimes not at all. The longer the hair stays, the longer the root is nourished and becomes stronger. With regular waxing, the waxing service becomes faster and less painful. If the waxing service is sporadic, the root system eventually becomes strengthened and starts over.

FAQ

IS BRAZILIAN WAXING PAINFUL?

This varies upon the pain tolerance of each individual . We recommend avoiding caffeine and other stimulants a few hours PRIOR to your appointment as this can intensify the pain. The pain can be described as “pulling off a band aid.” It disappears a few moments after it is pulled. Some clients are more sensitive right before/during their menstrual cycle . A small number of pregnant women during the first trimester may experience more sensitivity . Skin Lifting is lifting off of skin. This results in a burn wound. This is caused by several factors: Wax is too hot. Waxing over the same spot over and over with soft wax. Not telling the service provider that an exfoliant was used or medication was being taken that causes skin thinning.

HOW LONG SHOULD THE HAIR BE?

Because we use a specialty hard wax especially designed for Brazilian waxing, the recommended hair length should be between 1/4″ and 1″. For best results we recommend the hair be NO LONGER THAN 1 1/2″ and NO SHORTER than 1/4″. This is so the hard wax is able to “shrink wrap” around the hair. If the hair is too short, the wax cannot grip the hair to pull it out by the roots. If the hair is too long, it can increase the pain for the client. Regular waxing appointments should be between 4-6 weeks and 2 – 4 weeks in the summer.

IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD AVOID? WHO SHOULD NOT WAX?

We recommend avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and aspirin a few hours before your service. We also advise avoiding sun exposure/tanning beds/spray tan a few days prior and after your appointment. Products with fragrance should be avoided the day of your appointment. If you have taken (last 3-6 mos)/are taking Tetracycline/Accutane/Renova/Adapalene/Renova/Retin A /Retinol WE DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY WAXING SERVICES.

WHAT IF I AM MENSTRUATING WHEN MY ITS MY APPOINTMENT TIME?

Most women claim that the “show must go on”. The service is so quick that there is no disruption. Some women may experience more sensitivity during this time. It is safe and sanitary. Please let us know if you have any concerns.

CAN I STILL RECEIVE THE SERVICE WHEN I AM PREGNANT? HOW SOON AFTER PREGNANCY?

It is safe to receive the service until right before your due date. Many women plan their last service right before delivery to avoid being “dry shaven” at the hospital. We are trained to place you in the most comfortable, safe position. Women may experience more sensitivity to pain during their pregnancy. Due to hormones, hair may become thicker. Many women begin coming to receive waxing services a few months before their due date. It is safe to start waxing 6 weeks after delivery for vaginal delivery. For C-Section, only after your Doctor’s approval.
